ELA Reading is designed to improve the academic reading skills any student at Auburn Adventist Academy who has a reading deficiency. The primary focus is on reading comprehension, decoding words, vocabulary development, reading rate, speaking skills, and other study skills related to reading. This is accomplished through guided reading lessons at each student’s individual level of reading, shared reading lessons through the use of literature sets, and independent reading time where each student can read books they enjoy and practice the reading skills they are learning. The goal is for each student to read and understand content area books and information assigned by all teachers at Auburn Adventist Academy.

ELA Writing- Teacher- Atuanya Dubreuil

ELA writing is designed to improve the writing ability of any student at Auburn Adventist Academy deficient in grammar and writing.  The primary focus is to build grammar, editing, and writing skills.  This is accomplished through the use of specified writing units.  A brief lesson is taught focusing on a particular aspect of grammar, coupled with a particular style of writing.  Once the lesson is complete, the students have time to develop their writing utilizing the writing process and the specific focus of grammar and writing for the unit.  Students are assisted in developing their writing at their level to improve to become fully mainstreamed in English classes at Auburn Adventist Academy.
