Music Ensembles

 

Sylvan Chorale- Teacher- Rochelle White

Sylvan Chorale is an advanced choral ensemble. The members of this organization must demonstrate musical aptitude and ability. Sylvan members are expected and required to participate in all activities of the group including tours, concerts, the school musical, the Washington Conference Fine Arts Festival, Walla Walla University Choral Clinic (February 2020), and church performances. Membership is required for the entire school year.

 

Concert Choir- Teacher- Rochelle White

AAA Concert Choir is open for any student wishing to sing. The members of this organization must demonstrate willingness to participate in active learning during each rehearsal.  Choir members are expected and required to participate in all activities of the group including concerts, Washington Conference Fine Arts Festival, and church performances.  Membership is expected for the entire school year.

 

Wind Ensemble- Teacher- Trent Russell

Performing ensembles provide an opportunity for students who already play instruments to improve their skills in a group setting. In these classes, students will prepare music for several performances each year. We play for local churches and schools, events and concerts on our own campus, and take a week long tour each year. Recent tour destinations include Orlando, Boston, New York City, and western Canada.

Jazz Band- Teacher- Trent Russell

The Jazz Band offers a chance to learn a different style of music with alternative performing environments. Students can learn how to improvise while playing in different styles including gospel, blues, and jazz. This group performs mainly at home with concerts at Christmas time, school functions, and community events. The class meets twice a week and typically requires enrollment in Wind Ensemble.

 

Handbells- Teacher- Rochelle White

AAA Tintinnabulation is our handbell choir and is open for any student wishing to ring. The members of this organization must demonstrate a willingness to participate in active learning during each rehearsal. Tintinnabulation members are expected and required to participate in all activities of the group including concerts, the Washington Conference Fine Arts Festival, church performances and selected tours. Membership is expected for the entire school year.

Visual Arts

 

Print Making & Drawing- Teacher- Martin Wallace

Emphasis is placed on understanding the Elements of Art as a basis for composition. Students will explore a variety of artists, art processes and materials such as drawing and painting. Student artwork will reflect aesthetics & cultural and historical contexts. Willingness to get involved in the creative process is a more important requirement than the student’s talent or previous experience.
